Liverpool Forward Diogo Jota Dies in Tragic Car Crash, Brother Also Killed Just 10 Days After Wedding

According to Marca and other Spanish media, Liverpool forward Diogo Jota tragically died in a car accident in Spain in the early hours of July 3. He was 28 years old. His younger brother André, who played for Portuguese club Peñafiel, also lost his life in the crash.

The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on the A-52 highway in the region of Cernadilla. Initial reports suggest the Lamborghini they were traveling in may have suffered a tire blowout while overtaking, causing the car to veer off the road and catch fire. Local residents quickly reported the crash to emergency services.

The 1-1-2 emergency center of Castilla y León dispatched traffic police, firefighters from Zamora, and medical personnel to the scene. Unfortunately, both Jota and his brother were pronounced dead on-site.

What makes the tragedy even more heartbreaking is that Jota had just gotten married on June 22. On June 28, he shared wedding photos on social media, captioned: “June 22, 2025 — Yes. Forever.” Just ten days later, the football world is mourning his loss.
