Global Tributes Pour In for Diogo Jota: Cristiano Ronaldo Heartbroken, LeBron James Says “You’ll Never Walk Alone”

[July 3] — The football world is in mourning after Liverpool forward and Portuguese international Diogo Jota tragically died in a car accident in Spain at the age of 28. The devastating news sparked an outpouring of grief across the sports community, with global stars paying emotional tributes.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Jota’s former national teammate, expressed his heartbreak on social media:

Born in December 1996, Jota began his career with Paços de Ferreira before playing for Porto, Wolves, and finally Liverpool. His contributions helped Liverpool win one Premier League title, two League Cups, and one FA Cup.

Internationally, Jota earned 49 caps and scored 14 goals for Portugal. His final appearance came in the UEFA Nations League final, where he helped the team beat Spain in a penalty shootout.
