On July 10, industry sources confirmed that Apple has officially begun mass production of the OLED displays for its first foldable iPhone. The displays are exclusively supplied by Samsung, produced at its A3 factory in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea.
Samsung has built a dedicated production line to manufacture these flexible OLED panels, with an annual capacity of up to 15 million units. While Apple plans to launch only 6 to 8 million foldable iPhones in 2026, Samsung’s larger production capacity will also support future iterations of the device.
Despite Apple’s consistent push for supply chain diversification, Samsung remains a critical partner thanks to its technological leadership in foldable OLED displays.
The foldable iPhone will reportedly feature a 7.58-inch display with a resolution of 2713×1920 and an aspect ratio of 14.1:10—positioned as a wide fold device, different from Android foldables. It will be powered by the A20 chip, include a dual-camera setup (wide and ultra-wide), use fingerprint recognition instead of Face ID, and may carry a price tag exceeding $2,000.
Apple is expected to unveil this foldable model alongside the iPhone 18 series in Fall 2026, establishing a yearly release cycle for its foldable lineup.
