Trump Slams “FireAid” Wildfire Relief as Democratic Scam: Claims $100M Has Vanished
Donald Trump blasted California's wildfire relief project “FireAid” on Truth Social, alleging it to be a Democrat-led scam and questioning the disappearance of $100 million in aid funds. He also criticized Governor Newsom and the Los Angeles city government for mishandling water resources and delaying wildfire recovery efforts.
On July 25, former U.S. President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to denounce “FireAid,” a high-profile wildfire relief project aimed at helping victims of the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Trump called the initiative a “total disaster” and “another Democrat-run scam.”
FireAid was launched as a fundraising concert, promising to allocate over $100 million in donations directly to wildfire survivors. However, Trump questioned where the money actually went, stating: “It’s disgraceful. The money has disappeared. Another Democrat mess!”
He further targeted California Governor Gavin Newsom for refusing to release water from Northern California and the Pacific Northwest — a move Trump claims could have mitigated the wildfires.
Trump also noted that while federal housing permits had been approved, the Los Angeles city government had been stalling reconstruction projects, leaving thousands without homes months after the disaster.
The Los Angeles wildfire that erupted in early January claimed 29 lives and scorched nearly 60,000 acres. There is no official confirmation yet on the status of the aid funds or ongoing investigations.
