According to WccfTech, Google’s next-generation mobile chip Tensor G5 will debut with the upcoming Pixel 10 series, making it the world’s first mass-produced chip manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, ahead of Apple.
While industry speculation previously suggested that Tensor G5 would be based on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm N3E process, the latest leak reveals that the chip has instead adopted the third-generation N3P process. This leap means Google not only matches its rivals in process technology but also secures the title of the world’s first N3P chip, gaining an early competitive edge.
According to Tom’s Hardware, N3P is an optical shrink of N3E, offering up to 5% performance gains at the same power consumption, or 5%-10% power savings at the same performance, resulting in longer battery life and reduced heat for mobile devices.
On the performance side, the Tensor G5 delivers a 60% boost in TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) performance and a 34% average increase in CPU speed. Google claims this upgrade significantly improves the responsiveness of Pixel devices in web browsing, AI workloads, and everyday applications.
Benchmark results confirm these improvements. Based on GeekBench 6.4.0, the Pixel 10 Pro XL shows a 15.09% increase in single-core performance and a 32.03% increase in multi-core performance compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Industry analysts believe that with the release of the Tensor G5, the Pixel 10 series will achieve a substantial leap in both performance and efficiency. This not only gives Google an edge in the premium smartphone chip race but also positions it strongly for the upcoming AI-driven smartphone competition.
