At Gamescom 2025, MSI unveiled an OLED monitor endurance test unit that had been running continuously for 533 days, 7 hours, and 22 minutes before the show — with virtually no signs of burn-in.
Powered by OLED Care 2.0
The monitor integrates OLED Care 2.0, featuring two key technologies:
- Pixel Shift: subtly shifts pixel positions over time to prevent damage from static content.
- Static Screen Detection: automatically adjusts brightness when the image remains unchanged, reducing burn-in risk.
Even under high-risk conditions — such as Windows taskbars, browser tabs, and static images — the display showed no noticeable burn-in. MSI recommends keeping the default OLED Care settings enabled for maximum lifespan.
Looking Ahead: OLED Care 3.0
MSI also previewed its upcoming OLED Care 3.0, which will introduce a CMOS face-detection sensor. Unlike traditional proximity sensors, this technology will trigger pixel refresh only when the user leaves, avoiding false triggers from pets or other movements in the room, thus ensuring smarter and more precise panel maintenance.
📌 Takeaway
With over 500 days of proven endurance, MSI has demonstrated major progress in burn-in prevention for OLED monitors. The arrival of OLED Care 3.0 could mark the beginning of a new era where OLED displays are longer-lasting, smarter, and virtually free of burn-in concerns.
