On August 31, 21st Century Business Herald learned from UBTECH Robotics — known as the first humanoid robotics stock — that the company has signed a landmark $1 billion strategic partnership agreement with renowned Middle Eastern long-term investment firm Infini Capital. The collaboration will focus on two key areas: capital support and industrial synergy.

Robust Financial Backing

Under the agreement, Infini Capital’s high-tech investment fund will provide UBTECH with a $1 billion strategic financing credit line. Funding methods will include private placements, convertible bond subscriptions, and direct cash drawdown rights. Notably, the provision of an on-demand $1 billion cash facility offers UBTECH a rapid financing channel, significantly enhancing its capacity for large-scale industrial deployment and strategic initiatives.

Infini Capital also plans to increase its shareholding in UBTECH when market conditions are favorable, aiming to become a major shareholder with up to 5% equity.

Expanding into the Middle East

For UBTECH, already listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, choosing Infini Capital is closely tied to its ambition to expand aggressively in the Middle East. Earlier this year, in February, UBTECH showcased its industrial humanoid robot Walker S1, its panda robot YouYou, and an integrated AI education solution at LEAP — Saudi Arabia’s largest technology exhibition.

As part of the new agreement, Infini Capital will help UBTECH penetrate the Middle Eastern market by establishing a joint venture, setting up a regional headquarters, and building a mega factory and R&D center in the region.

A Proven Technology Investor

This is not Infini Capital’s first foray into Chinese technology investments. With dual headquarters in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Hong Kong, China, the firm manages multiple primary and secondary funds with a diversified portfolio spanning strategic emerging technologies, AI, humanoid robotics, and intelligent manufacturing.

In recent years, Infini Capital’s funds have taken part in cornerstone and placement investments in leading Hong Kong-listed tech firms such as SenseTime, Fourth Paradigm, China Ruyi, BYD, Lens Technology, CaoCao Mobility, and more — contributing over HK$10 billion in funding to accelerate the growth of China’s high-tech sector.

Strengthening the Humanoid Robotics Ecosystem

UBTECH believes Infini Capital’s deep experience in AI and robotics investments will help it develop humanoid robots with greater capabilities and lower production costs.

Since the start of the year, UBTECH has been actively advancing the commercial deployment of humanoid robots, partnering with leading enterprises including BYD, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, Geely, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao, Audi FAW, BAIC BJEV, SF Express, and Foxconn. Its Walker S series industrial humanoid robots have become the most widely deployed in factory training worldwide.

In July, UBTECH won a 90.51 million yuan procurement contract from Meei (Shanghai) Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. — the largest single order ever secured by a humanoid robotics company globally.

A New Chapter in International Collaboration

This partnership follows the participation of the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund in UBTECH’s previous placement and underscores growing global investor confidence in China’s humanoid robotics sector. With foreign capital participation, UBTECH aims to maintain its leadership position, accelerate commercialization, expand market share, and enhance profitability — propelling China’s humanoid robotics industry onto the global stage.
