On October 5, Beijing time, at the 2025 WTT China Grand Slam, Wang Chuqin and Lin Shidong claimed the men’s doubles championship — a well-deserved victory that also showcased the strong bond between the two players. After the match, Wang Chuqin couldn’t help but praise his younger teammate.

Earlier in the semifinals, Lin Shidong faced an unfortunate incident when a female spectator attempted to distract him during play. After securing the win, Lin responded with a thumbs-down gesture — a spontaneous reaction to the provocation. Showing maturity and leadership, Wang Chuqin comforted him with a gentle pat on the head and later stood up for him publicly:

“No matter who wins or loses in the final, we’re all Chinese team players. Fans can support whoever they like, but personal attacks against others are absolutely unacceptable.”

Following their championship win, Lin expressed how their partnership has grown:

“At the start of the year in Singapore, our teamwork was still developing. This time, my coordination with Brother Tou (Wang) felt much smoother.”

Wang echoed the sentiment, emphasizing teamwork and mentorship:

“Lin Shidong is an absolute core player of the men’s team. I have more experience in doubles, so I try to pass on what my seniors taught me — it’s a form of legacy. As we prepare for future competitions, we’ll keep refining our communication and mutual understanding to strengthen our doubles synergy.”

During the post-match interview, Wang once again made his stance clear:

“Lin Shidong is undoubtedly a key player for China’s men’s team. His strength speaks for itself — there’s nothing to question.”

Standing beside him, Lin playfully rolled his eyes twice — a light-hearted moment that drew laughter from the audience. It was a reflection of their close friendship: Wang acts like an older brother, guiding and protecting Lin, while Lin clearly trusts and respects him deeply.

Together, they’re not just winning titles — they’re building the next great chapter of Chinese table tennis.
