Man United Set to Secure €44M Transfer Fee! Højlund’s Exit 99% Complete as New Release Clause Surpasses Old Value

Manchester United are on the verge of pocketing a guaranteed €44 million next summer. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Rasmus Højlund’s permanent move to Napoli is 99% complete. Unless a major injury or shock occurs this season, the Danish striker will join the Serie A champions permanently.

Romano reported that United are fully confident the buy option will be triggered. “United are convinced Højlund’s clause will be activated,” he said. “They’ve already received €6 million in loan fees, and the €44 million buyout will become an obligation once Napoli qualify for the Champions League.”

Napoli are currently only one point behind league leaders AC Milan, keeping their top-four hopes strong.

Interestingly, Højlund’s new Napoli contract will include a release clause effective from 2027 worth €85 million, exceeding the €83 million United originally paid Atalanta. This not only shows Napoli’s faith in his potential but also highlights how heavily United invested in him at the start.

Meanwhile, another United loanee, Marcus Rashford, could also leave permanently. Barcelona hold a €30 million buy option, and Romano confirmed that Rashford is eager to stay in Spain.
“He loves Barcelona — the club, the city, and the team. If Barça decide to keep him, he’s even willing to accept a pay cut,” Romano revealed.

Former United scout Mike Brown added, “It’s sad for United fans, but Rashford looks destined not to return. Even if Barça pass, other clubs will line up for him given his form.”

As for Joshua Zirkzee, his future remains uncertain. Despite limited minutes, Romano noted the Dutch striker is fighting for his place. However, if his situation doesn’t improve by January, a move before the World Cup could be on the table.

“He’s committed and hardworking,” Romano said, “but if he continues to lack playing time, a transfer might become inevitable. The next three months will be crucial.”
