Lu Weibing: The REDMI K Series Keeps Rising — Turbo Lineup Set to Gradually Take the Lead

Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing recently shared a blogger’s review of the REDMI K90 Pro, sparking discussions across the tech community.

The reviewer noted that Xiaomi’s push toward premium flagship positioning has proven highly successful, and it’s only natural for REDMI to follow the same upward trajectory. According to the review, the K90 Pro Max serves as REDMI’s first meaningful step toward full flagship status.

In response, Lu Weibing reaffirmed the brand’s strategy, stating that “the K Series will continue to advance through technological innovation and superior user experience, while the Turbo Series will gradually take over.”

REDMI product manager Sun Cun also added that the Turbo lineup will bring new surprises in both performance and value, signaling strong confidence in the brand’s future direction.

Earlier this year, REDMI launched the Turbo 4 in January, debuting the Dimensity 8400-Ultra chip at a starting price of just 1,999 yuan. This was followed by the Turbo 4 Pro in April, which introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor at the same price point.

Lu Weibing later highlighted that both the standard and Pro versions of the Turbo 4 delivered exceptional performance, outstanding value, and strong user approval—driving record-breaking sales for the series.

He emphasized that as Xiaomi continues to strengthen its high-end strategy, the K Series will keep moving upward in positioning. The creation of the Turbo line, he explained, was intended to fill the new performance segment that opens as the K Series climbs higher.

According to leaks, the upcoming REDMI Turbo 5 will make its debut in the fourth quarter of this year, becoming the world’s first smartphone powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 processor.

True to its tradition, the Turbo 5 will focus on delivering top-tier performance and long battery life. The new model will also feature a refined metal mid-frame and a large rounded-edge design, significantly elevating its premium look and feel to match the Pro series.
