Sheshko Out for Weeks with Knee Injury: Manchester United Chooses Safety Over Playing Time

Manchester United’s 22-year-old forward Benjamin Šeško will miss several weeks due to a knee injury, ruling him out immediately after the international break. Šeško has also withdrawn from Slovenia’s national team, which is already eliminated from next year’s World Cup.

The €85 million signing came on as a substitute against Tottenham but, within 13 minutes, missed two scoring opportunities and twisted his knee during a shot. He was immediately escorted off by medical staff. Manchester United’s medical team emphasized this was a precautionary measure to prevent worsening the injury, not due to embarrassment or player hesitation.

Šeško has been receiving treatment and monitoring at Carrington, and doctors consider the injury minor. The situation caused a brief dispute with Slovenia’s coach Matjaž Kek, who initially criticized Manchester United for not communicating. Kek later clarified the issue was resolved within five minutes and thanked the club, wishing Šeško a smooth recovery.

To compensate, coach Ruben Amorim called 17-year-old forward Chidozie Obi to train with the first team. Manchester United may also retain 24-year-old Dutch forward Largie Ramazani unless a suitable transfer offer is made.
