According to a report by Xiaoxiang Morning News, action star Donnie Yen recently mentioned in an interview that he had once experienced disrespect in Hollywood during the early stages of his overseas career, sparking widespread discussion.
When asked whether he had faced discrimination abroad, Yen admitted that discrimination can exist anywhere in the world, and the best way to deal with it is to “prove yourself with real ability.”
He recalled that during his early days working in Hollywood, he was often ignored: “I greeted the producer every day, but he acted like I didn’t exist, treating me like part of the background.” Although such treatment was discouraging, it strengthened Donnie Yen’s determination to earn recognition through professionalism. “Sometimes, it really takes time to prove your worth,” he said.
