(Sydney, 23rd) The mixed doubles final of the Australian Open (Super 500) took place today, featuring Malaysia’s top pair Chen Tang Jie / Toh Ee Wei (World No. 4) against Indonesia’s Jafar Hidayatullah / Felisha Pasaribu (World No. 11). The Malaysian pair had previously won all four encounters against the Indonesians, giving them a confident advantage entering the match.

Chen/Toh delivered an impressive performance, defeating the Indonesian duo 21–16, 21–11 in straight games. This victory marks their second title of the year, following their major triumph at the World Championships in Paris.

In the first game, both sides were level at 2–2 before Chen/Toh opened up to 4–2. Although Indonesia managed to catch up, the Malaysians responded with a strong 5–0 run, taking a 9–4 lead and entering the interval at 11–6. The Indonesians rallied to tie the score at 14–14 and 15–15, but Chen/Toh maintained composure, scoring three consecutive points to move ahead 18–15 and eventually secured the game 21–16.

The second game was dominated by the Malaysian pair. They stormed ahead 6–1, and after Indonesia gained a point, Chen/Toh unleashed another 4–0 run to extend the lead to 10–2 before taking an 11–4 interval advantage. Continuing their momentum, they stretched the score to 20–10 and sealed the match 21–11.
