JingDong’s Instant Medicine Delivery Surges as Flu Drug Demand Spikes; Sufuda Sales Jump Fivefold in a Week

Sina Tech reported on the evening of November 24 that influenza A is entering its peak season, with JD Pharmacy’s “instant delivery” platform showing a clear north-to-south spread of flu activity. Northeastern and northern China have already hit peak levels, while northwestern and southwestern regions are still rising. Eastern, southern, and central regions are experiencing accelerated growth.

Between November 17 and November 23, demand for flu-related medicines surged sharply:

• Oseltamivir sales increased by 4.5 times week-over-week
• Sufuda sales jumped fivefold
• Flu antigen testing kits rose by 4.8 times
• Cough, phlegm-relief, and fever-reducing medicines exceeded threefold growth

Flu-related spending also recorded significant year-on-year increases:

• Total transaction value for influenza-specific medicines climbed 22 times
• Sufuda and Kewei each saw transaction values rise over 40 times
• Tamiflu transaction value increased 24 times
• General cold and cough remedies doubled year-on-year; several products such as antiviral herbal liquids, Lianhua Qingwen, and Pudilan gained over fivefold, while Xiaochaihu granules rose threefold

Demand for rapid testing also increased substantially.
JD Daojia’s testing service reported:

• Respiratory pathogen test orders rose 66% week-over-week
• Positivity rate reached 68.2%
• Nurse home-sampling services nearly doubled in orders

At the same time, JD Internet Hospital saw a 51% week-over-week increase in online fever clinic consultations.

This year, JD Daojia has also launched “hospital diagnostic services” in 16 cities—including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Changsha, and Xi’an—where licensed nurses perform home sample collection and public hospital labs issue diagnostic reports, supporting medical needs during the flu season.
