Alibaba’s AI ecosystem is rising rapidly in China. Following the launch of Qwen on November 17, Ant Group’s Lingguang app soon joined the surge, pushing both apps into the top ranks of the App Store China free chart. As of November 21, Qwen and Lingguang ranked No.4 and No.6 respectively. Qwen surpassed 10 million downloads within its first week—faster than ChatGPT, DeepSeek, or Sora—while Lingguang exceeded 2 million downloads in six days after multiple rounds of emergency server expansion.

Their success stems from distinct value propositions: Qwen acts as a “high-achiever assistant,” capable of generating PPTs from a single sentence, creating images and videos with strong physical consistency, and offering simultaneous interpretation across 10 languages—especially useful for cross-border professionals. Its multimodal reasoning and structured outputs make it more practical than typical chatbots.

Lingguang differentiates itself with “Flash Apps,” enabling anyone—even children—to build functional mini-apps in under a minute without coding. Users can create calorie calculators, mortgage tools, study timers, or games, and update logic with a single instruction. Its conversation mode visualizes complex topics with diagrams, animations, and maps, enhancing understanding and creativity, while “Lingguang Vision” lets users point a camera at any object to get contextual knowledge or auto-generated content.

Together, Qwen and Lingguang are redefining what mainstream AI apps can be—powerful, multimodal, and accessible—pushing China one step closer to truly “mass-adopted AI.”
