(Hong Kong, 28th) Hong Kong entertainer Hai Junjie’s wife, Mo Jiachi, was previously diagnosed with acute liver failure. After battling illness for some time, news emerged last night that she had passed away. Their love story began during a low point in Hai’s career, and he was deeply grateful to have met her, affectionately calling her his “adorable chubby girl.”

Hai Junjie debuted in 1994 after winning the New Talent Singing Contest and released his first single Forever Idol under Huaxing Records, later included in the album Sea in the Breeze. Although the song received a positive response, his career did not maintain momentum, earning him the nickname “one-hit wonder.”

He later appeared in TVB dramas such as CID III, Island Special Unit, and Forensic Heroes II, as well as multiple ATV productions. His career experienced ups and downs; after leaving ATV in 2008, he moved north to China for a 10-year performing career.

During his time in China, he performed four to five nights a week. Overusing his voice once led to temporary loss of speech, leaving him confused and in tears, fearing he might never sing again. Thankfully, after months of rest, his vocal cords recovered.

It was during this low point that he met Mo Jiachi. Living together in China, their relationship quickly deepened, and they married in 2017. Mo Jiachi, a celebrity makeup artist, was full-figured and sweet-looking, and Hai often affectionately called her his “adorable chubby girl.” Her untimely passing now marks a deeply sorrowful moment in their story.
