30 games, 0 goals! Real Madrid's €80 million star is suffering a dramatic decline — and is now closing in on a humiliating 41-year club record

At just 24, Rodrygo was once Real Madrid’s go-to man for big moments — a Champions League hero who repeatedly rescued the team. But the last several months have seen a shocking drop in form. On December 2, Marca reported that Rodrygo has now gone 30 consecutive matches without scoring, equaling a 123-year-old club record and potentially setting a new historic low. According to The Athletic, Real Madrid would consider selling him if a suitable offer arrives.
In the recent 1–1 draw against Girona, Rodrygo came off the bench but failed to find the net once again. This season, he has 0 goals in 12 La Liga appearances, 0 goals in 3 Champions League games, and 0 goals in 3 Club World Cup matches — totaling 18 goalless games under Xabi Alonso.
But the drought didn’t start with Alonso. In Ancelotti’s final 12 matches last season, Rodrygo also failed to score. As Marca notes, Rodrygo’s 30-game drought ties Mariano Díaz for the longest goalless streak by a Real Madrid forward in club history.
The comparison becomes even more painful:
- Mariano: 986 minutes without scoring
- Rodrygo: 1339 minutes (and counting)
Rodrygo’s last goal dates all the way back to March 5, in the Champions League win over Atlético — nine months ago. Marca adds that he is now only 77 minutes away from breaking another unwanted milestone: the longest goalless time ever recorded by a Madrid forward, held by Maranhão in the 1970s (1416 minutes).
Who could have imagined the once-unstoppable Champions League hero falling into such a deep slump?
Meanwhile, Rodrygo’s market value continues to plunge. From €110 million last summer, it has dropped to €80 million — yet even at that price, finding a buyer won’t be easy. The Athletic confirms that Rodrygo is no longer considered “untouchable.” If an attractive offer arrives, Madrid will evaluate it.
Labour 'is reviewing its winter fuel payment for thousands of Brits' after backlash from voters during elections
Downing Street is considering reinstating the winter fuel payment for thousands of pensioners in a move to restore public goodwill, according to reports. Senior figures in Sir Keir Starmer's circles have allegedly been discussing how to simmer public anger towards the Labour Government in the wake of their local election thumping to Nigel Farage's Reform. While any moves would not see a full reversal of the cuts made last July, sources at No.10 told The Guardian they are exploring the option of increasing the £11,500 income cap currently set for the payment.
