Following its expansion into Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States, Luckin Coffee is planning to extend its global footprint to Taiwan. The first store is rumored to open at No. 222, Section 3, Nanjing East Road, Taipei, close to a metro station and a Starbucks, positioning it in direct competition.

Luckin’s Taiwan operations are expected to be managed through a local agency, Shun Yu Holdings, registered in September 2025. Leveraging local supply chain resources, Shun Yu provides coffee raw materials to support Luckin. Recruitment postings indicate that the first stores are hiring baristas, store managers, and key staff, with salaries in line with mid-to-high-end market standards. The initial plan may include opening three stores simultaneously in Taipei.

Taiwan’s coffee market exceeds NT$100 billion in size, growing 5%-8% annually, with intense competition. Besides Starbucks and Louisa Coffee, convenience store coffee brands like CITY CAFE (7-ELEVEN) and Let’s Café (FamilyMart) hold significant market share. Luckin’s strategy may leverage mobile ordering, promotions, and innovative drinks to attract consumers.

With over 29,000 stores globally and a growing overseas presence, entering Taiwan will support Luckin’s international expansion and enhance its brand value and growth potential in capital markets.
