AMD’s New Ryzen AI Max “Refresh” Breaks Cover, Now Supporting Blazing-Fast 8533 MT/s Memory

Tech media outlet Wccftech reported on December 5 that AMD is preparing to launch its Ryzen AI Max “Refresh” processors next year, aiming to bring the high-performance strengths of Strix Halo to a wider mainstream audience.
While full details and model specifications remain incomplete, early information suggests that the upcoming lineup will span the mid- to high-end market and retain an integrated GPU class comparable to Strix Halo’s powerful iGPU architecture.
As a “Refresh” generation, the new processors are not expected to introduce radical architectural changes. Instead, AMD is focusing on refinements such as higher operating frequencies and subtle specification upgrades. Among these improvements, enhanced memory support stands out as the most significant change.
Current Strix Halo processors support memory speeds up to 8000 MT/s. In contrast, the upcoming Refresh models are expected to support LPDDR5X-8533 MT/s. Though the increase may appear modest on paper, the impact is far from trivial. Given how sensitive integrated graphics performance is to memory bandwidth, even a slight bump in memory speed can translate directly into noticeable GPU performance gains.
Well-known leaker @realVictor_M also corroborated the report, revealing that select incoming Ryzen AI Max processors will indeed support 8533 MT/s memory speeds. What remains unclear is whether this high-frequency support applies exclusively to the new Refresh series or if it also extends to previously leaked models such as the Ryzen AI Max+ 388 and 392.
