Head-On Confrontation: Chinese Football Legend Reports Dong Lu for Alleged Infringement of Minors’ Rights, Pledges ¥1 Million if No Laws Are Broken

In recent weeks, a heated and prolonged dispute has erupted between well-known sports media personality Dong Lu and former Chinese national team player Wang Xiaolong, fueled by sharp disagreements over youth training philosophies. The tension escalated even further when Wang publicly accused Dong of violating the rights of minors, taking the clash from verbal sparring to a serious legal confrontation.
According to Wang Xiaolong’s latest public statement, he and his legal team have formally reported Dong Lu to the relevant authorities, alleging that Dong illegally used images of minors. Wang even declared that if Dong’s actions are proven lawful, he is willing to compensate Dong with one million yuan.
During the “Manuel Cup” youth tournament in Spain, both Wang and Dong led their respective training teams. At that time, Wang accused Dong’s team of illegally livestreaming the matches, while Dong’s side countered that they had full authorization from the event organizers. Wang responded by vowing to “leave the internet” and apologize publicly if Dong could produce a valid agreement with the organizers. But when Dong’s team released the cooperation documents, Wang then claimed the agreement was noncompliant and legally flawed.
On his personal social media account, Wang Xiaolong stated:
“My legal team has reviewed your authorization.
- In Spain, using the image of a minor for commercial purposes without explicit consent from parents or legal guardians violates portrait rights and applicable laws.
- Any authorization without signed consent from guardians is invalid.
- The event organizers do not support or authorize third-party commercial livestreams of minors’ matches.”
He continued:
“If your documents are authentic, any actions based on them may carry serious legal consequences. The use of minors’ images for paid livestreaming must stop immediately. I may have misunderstood you, Mr. Dong. I will verify everything with my lawyers and the organizers. If there is no legal issue, I will keep my word—leave the internet and transfer one million yuan.”
Wang’s remarks make one thing clear: he intends to take this dispute straight to the tournament organizers. This may actually help settle the issue definitively, as the organizers can clarify whether Dong’s authorization is indeed valid.
However, if Dong Lu is ultimately proven innocent, Wang Xiaolong will not only need to withdraw from the internet as promised but also pay the hefty one-million-yuan compensation. When that moment comes, the question remains—will he honor his bold pledge?
