Sapphire Executive: Memory Market Expected to Stabilize in 6–8 Months—Hold Off on Buying and Keep Your Cash

On December 16, Fast Technology reported that uncertainty in the PC hardware market—driven by rising prices—has pushed many buyers into panic purchasing.

But Edward Crisler, Sapphire’s PR Manager, is urging gamers to step back and avoid following the crowd. In an interview with Hardware Unboxed, Crisler warned that buying out of fear rarely leads to smart decisions.

He compared today’s DRAM situation to the “tariff” scare earlier this year. In his view, it wasn’t the tariffs themselves that triggered widespread panic—it was the uncertainty surrounding them. He believes the memory market is facing a similar dynamic now, and argues there’s no need to rush because conditions are likely to stabilize within the next six to eight months.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty in the market… and that uncertainty can hurt gamers over the next six months. But I believe—truly believe—that within 6–8 months, the market will start to stabilize,” he said.

Coming from an executive at a graphics card company, the message stands out. Rather than encouraging upgrades, Crisler advised gamers not to let anxiety dictate their purchases.

“We have to stop panicking… don’t buy just because you feel like you have to. Save your money. Relax. Play some games. Enjoy the system you already have,” he added.

Crisler also pointed out that gamers are among the most adaptable communities in the world—having already endured past market chaos, including the crypto mining boom when GPU prices surged and availability collapsed.

Finally, he cautioned against wasting money chasing the “best gaming CPU” or the “best gaming GPU” every cycle. Instead, he encouraged people to wait for upgrades that genuinely deliver meaningful improvements, rather than replacing hardware every year or two just to stay on top of spec sheets.
