[Taipei random stabbing case] A 57-year-old man was stabbed to death while trying to stop the attacker; Chapman To donates one day’s proceeds from his noodle shop to the victim’s family.

(Taipei, 20th) A series of attacks occurred on Friday night (19th) around Taipei Main Station, the Zhongshan shopping district, and Eslite Nanxi, resulting in 4 deaths and 5 injuries. A 57-year-old man surnamed Yu was seriously stabbed while trying to stop suspect Zhang Wen from attacking people near the M7 exit of Taipei Main Station. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

In response, Chapman To, who has settled in Taiwan, posted on the 20th saying he would donate the proceeds from his newly opened restaurant to Yu’s family.

On Instagram he wrote: “Yesterday’s revenue from Little To Noodle Shop—without deducting costs—will be donated in full to Brother Yu’s family.” In his previous post, he also wrote: “Since we have survived by sheer luck, we should love one another more, let go of our attachments to ourselves and others, and start changing the world by changing our own hearts…”

“Little To Noodle Shop” only opened on December 6, and it has seen long lines of customers in recent days.
