Sammi Cheng has been making frequent trips to the hospital within a week, looking teary-eyed and dazed—reportedly to care for her elderly mother.

At the time, she revealed that she had accidentally injured her lower back during rehearsals and even had to rely on a wheelchair for a period. However, on Friday (19th), she disclosed on social media that she had been making frequent trips to the hospital over the past week, causing widespread concern among fans who feared a relapse of her old injury or new health issues.

It later emerged that the person hospitalized was not Sammi herself, but her elderly mother, who was admitted due to an upper respiratory tract infection and required seven days of close medical observation and treatment.

Sammi posted three updates on social media in succession, including videos of her accompanying her mother at the hospital, cooking fish soup to help her recover, and footage showing herself with teary eyes.

She explained that her mother developed an upper respiratory infection due to sudden changes in the weather. Given her mother’s weaker physical condition and a long-standing immune-related illness, the condition became relatively serious. “After seven days in hospital, she was finally discharged on the eighth day,” Sammi wrote. She added that fluctuating weather requires extra care for the elderly, and that those with aging parents at home would understand the anxiety she felt. She also expressed gratitude to her three sisters, brothers-in-law, and younger brother for their attentive care of their mother.

Photos shared by Sammi show her visibly exhausted after days of rushing back and forth to care for her mother. In one selfie, despite wearing light makeup, she could not hide her extreme fatigue. Her eyes appeared dazed and sorrowful, with a hint of tears—completely different from her usual powerful stage persona—revealing how deeply shaken she was by her mother’s illness.

Fortunately, after eight consecutive days of professional treatment and Sammi’s devoted care, her mother was safely discharged and returned home. Relieved, Sammi later posted a heartfelt message thanking the medical staff and cleaning personnel for their care during the hospitalization.

The experience left her deeply reflective. She described the week as “moving forward in fragments,” noting that the daily hospital visits prompted her to rethink life. She realized that spiritual fulfillment and the health of family members are the true priceless treasures, far outweighing any material enjoyment. She also gently reminded everyone to take extra care of elderly family members during unpredictable weather and to cherish time spent together.

Finally, Sammi shared a video of herself cooking fish soup for her mother, saying she had “regained some interest in cooking.” She fondly recalled how her late father used to cook in a very organized manner, joking that she now looked as if she had “just come back from a battle.” Her words reflected a lighter mood following her mother’s recovery.
