Wake up—Barcelona is changing fast! Members speak out: keep Rashford, move on from Lewandowski!

One is a once-unstoppable No. 9 who ruled the box for years. The other is an English star with elite upside. Now Barcelona are staring at a difficult choice: keep Robert Lewandowski, or commit to Marcus Rashford.

So—who should stay at Barça?

According to insider reporting from Spanish football outlet Sport, a large share of Barcelona members are against renewing Lewandowski’s contract, and are calling on the club to sign Rashford permanently.

In a fan survey among Barça members, 178 respondents said the club should not renew Lewandowski—59.3%, a clear majority.

Meanwhile, 95 members supported Lewandowski staying—31.6%. Another 16 members (5.3%) didn’t take a stance. The remaining 11 members (3.6%) took a cautious position, saying any decision should depend on the exact contract terms.

And what about Rashford?

164 members said sporting director Deco should pay €30 million to make the move permanent—54.6%. Another 107 members opposed the idea (35.6%), while 19 members preferred to wait until the end of the season before deciding (6.3%).

For now, the overall message from most survey participants is pretty consistent: let Lewandowski go, and keep Rashford.

Lewandowski, now 37, joined Barcelona from Bayern in 2022, when his market value was reportedly €45 million.

Despite his age, he’s been a reliable goal source at Barça year after year. Last season, he was a key piece of the attack as Barcelona lifted a domestic double—La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

This season, however, injuries and form have pushed him into more of a rotation role. So far, he has made 18 appearances for Barça (10 starts), with 8 goals and 1 assist.

With only six months left on his contract, the two sides still haven’t agreed on an extension.

To be clear, this member survey doesn’t represent an official club decision—but it’s still a useful snapshot of the mood around the team.

At this point, Lewandowski’s departure feels increasingly likely—possibly not just from Barcelona, but from Europe’s top five leagues altogether.

And honestly, letting him go would be a real shame.

Ferran Torres offers limited tactical value as a No. 9. Rashford, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, and Gavi can all cover the role in certain setups, but none bring the full striker package Lewandowski provides: penalty-box instincts, aerial presence, hold-up play, and link-up ability.

Rashford in particular is most comfortable cutting inside to shoot. That style can bring numbers, but it doesn’t always help connect the attack—or maximize a wide threat like Lamine Yamal on the other side.

Of course, Barcelona may see the situation differently—and they’ll have their reasons.
