China Table Tennis Super League (Women’s Team): Defending Champions Miss Out on Gold as Shenzhen University Clinch the Title with a 3–1 Final Win Over Shandong Luneng

On December 28 (Beijing time), the 2025 China Table Tennis Super League (Women’s Team) Final officially concluded. The defending champions, Shandong Luneng, were defeated without their top star Wang Manyu appearing in the lineup. Shenzhen University Club—last season’s runners-up—also competed without their leading player Sun Yingsha, yet still delivered a composed 3–1 victory to reclaim the championship.

Teen standout Qin Yuxuan was the defining force of the final, scoring two crucial points. Japan’s Miu Hirano dropped her singles match but partnered with Kuai Man to win the opening doubles. On Shandong’s side, Qian Tianyi lost her singles, and she and Chen Xingtong were also beaten in doubles. The remaining singles saw Xu Yi fall short, while Chen Xingtong earned Shandong’s only point. A fifth match was ultimately unnecessary.

Match highlights

Shenzhen University entered the playoffs with three world champions—Sun Yingsha, Kuai Man, and Miu Hirano. However, Sun withdrew before the semifinals due to injury. Shandong Luneng featured two world champions, Wang Manyu and Chen Xingtong. Although Wang played in the semifinals, she did not appear in the final roster.

In last year’s women’s team final, Shandong edged Shenzhen University 3–2 after a full five-match battle, with Sun Yingsha winning two points in a losing effort. This time, with both Sun and Wang absent, the title match became far harder to predict—and it ultimately belonged to the team that executed better on the day.

Shenzhen University set the tone immediately in doubles. Although Kuai Man and Miu Hirano do not partner frequently, they played with excellent rhythm and noticeably sharper speed than Chen Xingtong and Qian Tianyi. Shenzhen controlled all three games with clear margins, never allowing Shandong a true opening in the clutch moments.

In the second match, the first game was tight, with Qin Yuxuan briefly under pressure before edging it out. From there, she took command, keeping Xu Yi pinned and closing out a straight-games win to push Shandong to the brink.

The third match featured a world champion showdown between Chen Xingtong and Miu Hirano. With Shandong facing elimination, Chen stepped up and delivered a decisive response. Hirano fought hard, but Chen’s overall consistency and technical range proved too much, as she swept the match 3–0 to keep Shandong alive.

Then came the title-clinching moment. Qin Yuxuan returned to face Qian Tianyi—one of China’s strongest non-core national team players and a former world No. 5. Qin came out blazing, taking the first two games and putting Shenzhen within touching distance of the trophy. Although Qian pulled one back, Qin stayed composed, closed out the fourth game, and sealed a 3–1 win—sending Shenzhen University back to the top as champions once again.
