(Hong Kong, 27th) Cecilia Cheung recently shared a surprising postpartum story on the variety show All the Way to Bloom 2, sparking widespread discussion. She recalled that shortly after returning home from the hospital following a C-section, she discovered her family dog was about to give birth. Despite still recovering, she stayed on the floor for a long time helping the dog through the process. Only afterward did she realize she had pushed herself too hard and began experiencing discomfort around her surgical incision—leaving fellow guest Carina Lau visibly shocked and questioning how there could have been no one at home to help.
Cheung said she immediately tried to contact her attending doctor, only to learn the doctor was traveling in Europe. With no immediate medical support available, she managed on her own with topical medication until the doctor returned. After the segment aired, related keywords quickly trended on Weibo, prompting many viewers—especially mothers—to share their own experiences of facing postpartum challenges with limited support.
The story, however, has drawn mixed reactions. Actress Liu Xiaoqing felt Cheung’s detailed account sounded credible, while some online commenters questioned whether someone of Cheung’s status would truly have had no help at home, suggesting there may have been a gap in how the situation was described.
Cheung has also remained in the spotlight through her social media updates. After being spotted looking tired at Singapore’s airport, she appeared noticeably refreshed in a Christmas selfie video and shared a rare tender moment holding hands with her youngest son, Marcus. She is also reportedly still in a legal dispute with her former manager over payment and work-related claims, with the other party seeking HKD 12.76 million in damages; Cheung maintains she won’t take on low-quality projects for money and will continue to fight the case.
