According to UBS’s 2025 Billionaires Report, China added 70 new billionaires in 2025, bringing the total to 470, second only to the United States. Notably, 98% of Chinese billionaires are self-made entrepreneurs, higher than the global average.

The newly minted billionaires mainly come from marketing software, genomics, food and beverage, infrastructure, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) sectors. The tech sector saw the fastest wealth growth, driven by artificial intelligence and strong market demand. Notable Chinese entrepreneurs include the founders of Mixue Ice City, BYD’s Wang Chuanfu and Lv Xiangyang, and software investor Tang Hao.

The report also highlights that billionaires worldwide are increasingly concerned about tariffs, geopolitical conflicts, and policy uncertainty. In the Asia-Pacific region, 36% of billionaires have relocated at least once, with younger billionaires showing higher mobility. Over 80% of billionaires hope their children achieve independent success rather than rely on inherited wealth.
