In the early hours of December 29, the annual Globe Football Awards ceremony took center stage. Among this year’s newly introduced Globe Sports Award, Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic was honored as the first recipient.

The Globe Sports Award celebrates athletes or teams who dominate their sport while inspiring the world beyond competition. Djokovic received a sandglass-shaped trophy, symbolizing “time frozen,” reflecting his long and commanding career. Each year, the trophy features a unique design to capture the personality and achievements of the winner.

Cristiano Ronaldo, serving as the presenting guest, personally handed the award to Djokovic and praised his entire career: “For me, he is a role model. Words are unnecessary. His longevity and excellence set an example. Our careers share many similarities.”
Djokovic expressed both surprise and gratitude at receiving the award: “I never expected to receive such an honor, and I feel truly privileged. This award is not just about me—it represents the team and the supporters as well.” He also lauded Ronaldo’s relentless pursuit of his 1,000th career goal.
