Sun Yingsha Honored Again: Only Chinese Table Tennis Player Named One of Xinhua’s Top 10 Athletes of 2025

Recently, Xinhua Sports announced China’s Top 10 Athletes of 2025. World No.1 Sun Yingsha was successfully selected, becoming the only representative from China’s table tennis team.

In 2025, Sun Yingsha successfully defended her titles in the Doha World Table Tennis Championships and Macau World Cup women’s singles, and partnered with Wang Chuqin to achieve a three-peat in mixed doubles. She has also remained year-end world No.1 in women’s singles for four consecutive years. In China’s fiercely competitive table tennis team, Sun’s achievement stands out, highlighting the immense significance of her selection.

Throughout the 2025 season, Sun claimed six championships: Singapore Grand Slam women’s team, Chongqing Open women’s singles, Macau World Cup women’s singles, Doha World Championships women’s singles, Sweden Grand Slam women’s singles, and Macau Open women’s singles. She also secured four runner-up finishes. Even with unexpected losses at the US Grand Slam and a withdrawal at the Hong Kong Grand Finals, her overall performance remained strong and consistent.

Sun’s dominance extends beyond singles. She and Wang Chuqin won mixed doubles titles at Doha and the Chinese Grand Slam, while she partnered with Wang Manyu to win the Sweden Grand Slam women’s doubles.
