SpaceX Sets Record with 170 Launches in 2025; Starlink Satellites Surpass 10,800

December 30 – SpaceX’s final launch of 2025 was delayed due to technical issues, but this did not stop the company from setting a new annual record with an unprecedented 170 launches.

The mission originally planned to deploy an Italian Earth observation satellite into low Earth orbit using a Falcon 9 rocket, while recovering the booster. However, due to a hydraulic issue with the launch pad’s hold-down release system, the launch was postponed, expected to be delayed by at least two weeks.

In total, SpaceX completed 170 launches in 2025, including 165 Falcon 9 missions and 5 Starship launches (no Falcon Heavy launches this year). Among them, 122 missions carried Starlink satellites, accounting for 74% of Falcon 9 launches. A total of 3,190 Starlink V2 mini satellites were launched this year, averaging 26.15 satellites per launch.

Unofficial statistics show that 10,801 Starlink satellites have been launched to date, with 9,413 currently in orbit and over 1,400 either failed or deorbited. Of those in orbit, 8,026 are operating in their intended orbits, while 1,387 are still in orbit-raising phases.

Of the five Starship launches this year, the first three failed, but the last two successfully achieved controlled recovery or splashdown, providing valuable experience for future deep-space missions.
