Reddit in the U.S. has recently been overwhelmed by AI-generated content. In the r/AmItheAsshole community, admins estimate that up to 50% of posts are AI-generated. Users now must mimic “AI style” in awkward ways to prove they are human.
AI can emulate human emotions, slang, and even generate outrageous stories to provoke real users, increasing clicks and account value. Detecting AI content is extremely difficult—Wikipedia lists common sophisticated phrases as “AI suspects,” forcing humans to deliberately make mistakes or write awkwardly.
What used to be worries about formulaic writing now turns upside down: people must write poorly to pass AI detection. AI evolves faster than humans can, but humans are still investing energy to prove they are not machines.
Yet, as long as we continue to express ourselves, the human voice will never be fully replaced by AI.
