Spy shots of the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 have surfaced. Positioned as a direct rival to the BMW X5, the new GLE features a redesigned front grille and bumper. The headlights adopt the star-pattern light elements first seen on the Concept CLA, while the rear bumper and tailgate have been refined, with special attention to the license plate area.

Inside, previous close-up photos reveal that the facelifted model abandons the split display design, opting for a larger seamless dual-screen setup. The four square air vents are replaced by two larger units, yet physical buttons and the iconic center console grab handle remain.

Under the hood, the GLE 53 is expected to retain its 3.0-liter inline-six turbo engine, delivering 429 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid system, it adds an extra 21 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. As this represents the most powerful version of the engine, significant power upgrades are unlikely.
