IT Home reported on January 11 that, according to Xinhua News Agency, the “Tianma-1000” unmanned transport aircraft—independently developed by Xi’an Aisheng Technology Group Co., Ltd. under China North Industries Group (NORINCO Group)—successfully completed its first flight test today. All flight metrics performed well, marking a fully successful maiden flight.
Designed as a versatile aerial workhorse, the Tianma-1000 integrates logistics transport, emergency rescue support, and cargo delivery/airdrops into a single platform. It is also described as China’s first mid-altitude, low-cost transport solution capable of simultaneously achieving adaptation to plateau and complex terrain, ultra-short takeoff and landing (USTOL), and rapid switching between cargo transport and airdrop modes.
In terms of performance, the Tianma-1000 reaches a service ceiling of up to 8,000 meters, requires a takeoff/landing ground roll of under 200 meters, delivers a maximum range of 1,800 kilometers, and supports a maximum payload of 1 ton. Thanks to a modular cargo bay, the aircraft can be quickly reconfigured into a dedicated material delivery platform, allowing it to respond efficiently to a wide variety of mission needs.
IT Home also noted that the Tianma-1000’s payload capacity is roughly equivalent to the weight of a standard passenger car (about 1,000 to 1,500 kilograms). In scenarios such as remote-area resupply, emergency response, and urgent material transfers, it can enable single-sortie, scalable deliveries—transporting enough essential supplies like food, medicine, and equipment to support operations for several days—helping to break through logistical bottlenecks in challenging regions.
