(Las Vegas / Beijing, Jan 7) Roborock, the Beijing-based robot vacuum maker, unveiled a concept device called the “Saros Rover” at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The standout feature is a pair of leg-like mechanisms designed to let the robot climb stairs, targeting one of the biggest limitations of today’s home cleaning robots in multi-storey homes.

According to the company, the Saros Rover combines AI, multiple motion sensors, and 3D spatial mapping for navigation and decision-making. Its “two wheel-legs” can raise and lower independently, enabling the robot to traverse stair steps, thresholds, and uneven surfaces while maintaining stability.

In demonstrations, the robot was shown climbing a staircase step by step while cleaning each stair, and it also performed small hops to clear obstacles. It appeared capable of handling rapid maneuvers such as sudden stops and quick turns. However, the Saros Rover remains a concept product, and no commercial release date has been announced.

Industry observers note that mass adoption of advanced home robots still faces hurdles, including high costs, improving real-world mobility reliability, and balancing battery life against performance and weight.
