According to Hong Kong media reports, veteran actress Law Lan, now 91, has drawn public concern in recent years regarding her health. She was hospitalized last year after an accidental fall, and has since been seen using a cane at multiple public appearances. Her recent absence from close friend Woo Fung’s 94th birthday banquet further fueled fans’ worries.
However, on January 21, actor Cheung Kwok-keung shared photos from a tea gathering with Law Lan on social media, writing, “Having tea with Sister Law Lan—she seriously taught me how to pose for photos.” In the pictures, she appears cheerful and relaxed, smiling and playfully posing with heart gestures, cheek-resting, and a pout—prompting many netizens to feel reassured.
Previously, during a promotional event for the drama Golden Forest, Law Lan was seen walking slowly on stage with the support of a cane. A brief slip of the tongue while reading the drama title also sparked speculation about her condition. She later clarified in an interview that she had fallen at home months earlier while rushing to answer a phone call. The pain left her unable to get up, and she was taken to hospital by ambulance, spending eight days there for thorough examinations and physiotherapy.
Law Lan acknowledged that, with age, aches and pains can become more frequent and sometimes difficult to pinpoint. She also addressed online discussions about the appearance of her ankle, explaining it was caused by overly tight costume socks. She emphasized that she was not dealing with edema or varicose veins, and that her health indicators were generally normal, with no major concerns related to “the three highs” (high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol).
Late last year, Law Lan officially ended her contract with TVB. In recent years, she has often relied on a cane at events and moved more slowly, with colleagues frequently offering support to prevent accidents. While her earlier absence from a major birthday gathering raised renewed concern, Cheung’s newly shared photos suggest she is currently in good spirits and presenting a reassuring state of well-being.
