Short-drama actress Zuo Yi broke down in tears while responding to an alleged assault incident; her livestream was forcibly shut down.

On the evening of January 22, short-form drama actress Zuo Yi addressed the alleged “assault incident” during a livestream. She claimed that her assistant struck first and that she only tried to break free. During the stream, she became visibly overwhelmed and cried, insisting, “My acting has always been good—when has it ever been bad?” She also said she has worked hard as an actress and has “never let down any role.” The livestream was soon forcibly shut down.

Previously, on December 21, 2025, Zuo Yi posted a public apology acknowledging that she had physically struck her assistant. In that statement, she explained that wages were not paid directly by her because, after the incident, she wanted to avoid escalating emotions and therefore asked a production staff member to transfer the payment on her behalf. She admitted her actions were wrong, apologized to the person involved and to fans, shared transfer records, and stated that wages were settled, compensation was arranged, and a mediation agreement was signed.
