(Jakarta, 20th) The 2026 Indonesia Masters (Super 500) got underway today with a major upset in the men’s doubles first round. Malaysia’s top seeds and world No. 2 pair Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik were knocked out after a three-game battle, falling to Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard / Mads Vestergaard 22–20, 19–21, 16–21.

Chia/Soh have enjoyed a strong start to the season, reaching the final of the Malaysia Open and the semifinals of the India Open. However, competing in a third consecutive tournament appeared to test their physical condition and match rhythm.

The Malaysians edged a tight opening game 22–20 thanks to sharper execution on crucial points, but the Danes gradually took control in the next two games. Chia/Soh struggled to keep pace in fast attacking-to-defensive transitions, and Denmark completed the comeback by taking the second and third games 21–19 and 21–16.

The win marked Lundgaard/Vestergaard’s first victory over Chia/Soh, shifting the head-to-head record to 1–2.

Elsewhere, Malaysia–Korea pair Ong Yew Sin / Choi Sol Gyu advanced after surviving a tense three-game contest, defeating Thailand’s Kittinupong Kedren / Lucas Ekachai 24–26, 21–19, 21–13 to reach the second round.
