After a severe illness that left him drastically thin and near death, Ray Lui’s current condition is revealed.

Lui Chung-him, best known for portraying Linghu Chong in TVB’s classic 1996 Jin Yong drama The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, was reported to have suffered a serious health scare last year. According to reports, he was hospitalized multiple times within two months, including a 14-day stay in the ICU during which he fell into a coma, deeply worrying his wife, May Kang Ting.

After being discharged, Lui appeared noticeably thinner, having lost a significant amount of weight. His recent appearance alongside actor Cheung Kwok-keung has since drawn public attention. As reported by Sing Tao Headline, Lui had always maintained a youthful appearance prior to his illness and is set to turn 60 next month. However, following his recovery, he reportedly lost around 40 pounds, with visible signs of aging on his face, though his overall spirits remain good.

On the 29th, Lui shared a magazine cover photo on Weibo, writing: “I took a year off. I think my current condition is still okay.”

Earlier, Cheung Kwok-keung posted a video on social media featuring a reunion with Lui and actor Lawrence Ng at an event. The two humorously introduced themselves as “Zhang Wuji from The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber” and “Linghu Chong from The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” bringing back fond memories for fans. Cheung commented, “Seeing Lawrence Ng and Lui Chung-him again feels like a gathering of martial arts heroes.”

In the video, Lui appeared in a stylish suit, looking energetic and healthy. His face and physique seem to have regained some fullness, suggesting a positive recovery.
