Most Asian markets opened higher this morning, and Malaysian equities followed suit, with the FBM KLCI reclaiming the 1,740 level. As of 9:15 a.m., the index stood at 1,740.90, up 10.01 points or 0.58%.
The benchmark opened at 1,732.62 and trended upward through the early session, briefly touching 1,740.90.
Early turnover totaled about 225.64 million shares valued at roughly RM155.42 million. Market breadth was positive, with 248 gainers, 182 decliners, and 341 unchanged counters.
Among KLCI constituents, banking stocks led the rebound. Hong Leong Bank (HLBANK) rose 38 sen (+1.56%) to RM24.70 (second-biggest gainer), CIMB (CIMB) added 13 sen (+1.53%) to RM8.60 (fourth-biggest gainer), and RHB Bank (RHBBANK) climbed 9 sen (+1.11%) to RM8.19 (fifth-biggest gainer).
Bursa Malaysia slips below RM9
On the corporate front, Bursa Malaysia (BURSA) released its 4QFY2025 results (ended Dec 31) yesterday. Net profit fell 11.72% y-o-y to RM60.82 million, while revenue edged up 2.7% to RM190.87 million. After yesterday’s decline, the stock extended losses this morning and broke below RM9, opening at RM8.95 and later trading at around RM8.96, down 6 sen (-0.67%), among the day’s top losers.
Meanwhile, PavREIT (PAVREIT) posted stronger 4QFY2025 numbers, with net property income up 11.1% y-o-y to RM149.82 million and revenue rising 6.1% to RM232.09 million. The upbeat results lifted the stock 1 sen (+0.52%) to RM1.95 in early trade.
