He blames “him” for ending the huge age-gap romance — Lee Lung-kee insists his bond with Wong Ching-ha isn’t over

(Hong Kong, Feb 2) — Lee Lung-kei, 75, long nicknamed the “go-to emperor” for frequently playing royal roles, has remained in the spotlight in recent years due to his relationship with his fiancée Wang Qingxia (Chris), who is 36 years younger. The romance later became embroiled in controversy, including reports that Wang had previously been imprisoned, allegedly concealed a past marriage, and has a 16-year-old son. Lee was also said to have become involved without knowing key details, prompting widespread public discussion.

According to HK01, Lee said Wang returned to Foshan and then cut off contact—ignoring messages and refusing calls—before the pair ultimately broke up.

In recent weeks, Lee has appeared on multiple programs and spoken openly about the relationship, sharing his thoughts without hesitation. In an online interview last month, he described himself as naturally affectionate, even joking that it was “in his DNA,” making it hard for him to resist romantic attraction or settle down. He also said that eight properties under his name had already been transferred to his ex-wife, and that his insurance beneficiaries are listed as her as well.

Lee recently appeared again on a talk show hosted by longtime friend Lau Wai-man, revisiting the relationship with Wang. He stressed that he had always believed her feelings were genuine, adding that if not for certain people’s actions, the relationship might not have ended so definitively.

During the show, Lau joked that Lee’s recent visibility was “astonishingly high,” even surpassing Donald Trump’s. Lee laughed and replied that he hoped he could “beat him” in screen time.

Reflecting on the emotional fallout, Lee admitted the experience hit him hard and that he still hasn’t fully moved on. When the phrase “fake affection” came up, he rejected it outright, insisting he never felt Wang was insincere toward him.

He also claimed that a YouTuber’s videos exposing Wang’s past and spreading them online played a key role in ending the relationship, saying he believed their story might not have been over otherwise.

The discussion later broadened to society’s views on late-life relationships and large age-gap couples. Lee agreed that it is natural for older adults to seek companionship, and argued modern society should not keep judging relationships through traditional “matching backgrounds” expectations.
