Tipped to become a new tourist landmark, the world’s first “golden street” is set to be born!

The world’s first “Gold Street” may soon become a reality. Dubai, the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates, has announced plans to build what it describes as the first street of its kind—adding yet another headline-grabbing attraction to a city known for ambitious megaprojects.

The proposed Gold Street will form part of a newly planned Dubai Gold District, a purpose-built area designed to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for gold and jewellery.

Dubai is often referred to as the “City of Gold,” largely due to its famous Gold Souk in Deira—widely regarded as one of the world’s largest and most iconic gold marketplaces.

Design details yet to be revealed

Developers say the upcoming Gold Street aims to build on that reputation and become a distinctive tourist draw. While it is expected to feature gold as a central construction and design theme, specific architectural and design details have not been disclosed.

According to the project statement, planning and design information will be released in phases. The Gold Street initiative is part of the official launch of the Dubai Gold District plan led by real estate developer Ithra Dubai.

Once completed, the district is expected to host more than 1,000 retailers across categories including gold, jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics, and lifestyle products—positioning it as a major destination for both shoppers and merchants.
