Nancy Wu announced she is leaving TVB: “Time to go see the world outside.”

TVB Best Actress winner Nancy Wu, 44, surprised fans last October by announcing her marriage to surgeon boyfriend Chan Kin Wah (Akin). The couple held a romantic wedding in Queenstown, New Zealand, marking a new chapter in her personal life. Professionally, she has not slowed down—instead, she has been shifting more of her focus toward music-related work.

On Li Chun (the Start of Spring) today (Feb 4), Wu made another unexpected announcement: she revealed on Instagram that she is leaving TVB after more than two decades, saying she has decided to “step out of her comfort zone” and explore the world beyond, hoping for new experiences, creations, and fresh sparks in the year ahead.

Wu began her career journey in 1999 when she placed in the top four of TVB’s Global Chinese New Talent Singing Competition. In 2001, she won the overall championship in TVB’s third CoverGirl contest, later joining the 18th acting artiste training class. She was selected by producer Poon Ka Tak to appear in Triumph in the Skies as “Ling Cheuk Chi,” the younger sister of Ma Tak Chung’s character. After graduating in 2004, she gained wider recognition through her role as “Wan Wan” in Twin of Brothers.

After finishing Justice Bao: The Conclusion in 2019, Wu announced she would pause drama filming, sparking speculation about her future. In November the following year, she confirmed she had signed with Shaw Brothers and continued working with TVB under a different collaboration arrangement.

In her latest post, she described 2026 as “a new beginning and a good beginning,” saying she will keep moving forward with courage. She also expressed gratitude to colleagues at TVB and Shaw Brothers for their support, and extended wishes for health, peace, and a stronger economy for everyone.
