Microsoft and Google Go Big on Influencer-Led AI Promotions, with Single-Post Rates Reaching $100,000

IT Home reported on February 8 that, according to a CNBC report published in the U.S. on February 6, major tech players such as Microsoft and Google are increasingly turning to social media influencers to promote their AI services—using tactics that look a lot like how consumer brands build “trend” appeal and cultural relevance.
They’re not alone. AI companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta are also joining the race, commissioning creators to publish sponsored content across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and even LinkedIn. Industry sources say the largest influencer deals can climb into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The surge is backed by rapidly rising ad budgets. Data from Sensor Tower shows that U.S. digital advertising spend by generative AI platforms exceeded $1 billion in 2025—up 126% year over year. As the AI boom accelerates, influencer marketing is quickly becoming a key battlefield for user acquisition.
This ad arms race has even reached America’s biggest sporting stage. During the Super Bowl, Anthropic ran both a 60-second pre-game spot and a 30-second in-game ad, a move widely seen as a pointed response to OpenAI’s latest steps toward introducing ads within ChatGPT.
Within the creator economy, tech companies are paying premium rates to showcase AI tools in real-world contexts—such as demonstrating how to use Claude Code on LinkedIn or highlighting how Perplexity’s Comet assistant works on Instagram.
Sources familiar with the matter say Microsoft and Google have signed long-term partnerships with certain creators, with individual agreements reportedly ranging from $400,000 to $600,000.
AJ Eckstein, founder and CEO of Creator Match, noted that AI brands are rapidly expanding their creator-focused budgets. According to him, AI companies are looking for more authentic, interactive ways to introduce products and build closer relationships with users. Creator Match currently works with a range of AI firms, including Anthropic, HeyGen, and Notion.
Eckstein added that AI companies are often willing to allocate far more budget than brands in many other sectors. He pointed to the scale of funding and valuations in the industry, alongside the trillion-dollar market capitalizations of leading tech giants, as a major driver of this aggressive marketing push.
With deep pockets behind them, creator pricing has reached new highs—up to $100,000 for a single sponsored post, according to Eckstein. He also noted that some large companies are barely negotiating on rates.
Sensor Tower data further indicates that digital ad spending by Google and Microsoft for AI product promotion jumped by roughly 495% year over year last month, while OpenAI’s advertising spend in 2025 expanded to more than ten times its previous level.
Beyond paid posts, AI companies are strengthening partnerships by inviting creators to events, offering early access to new tools and beta programs, and covering travel expenses to deepen collaboration.
Still, not every creator is eager to sign on. Some decline AI sponsorships due to ethical, environmental, or creative concerns. Others worry that AI-backed content could trigger audience backlash—and bring reputational risk along with the paycheck.
