Trading Halted for Two Days as Veteran Government-Linked Stock Set to Make Major Announcement

(Kuala Lumpur, 9th) Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation (BHIC) (8133, Main Market – Transportation & Logistics) announced a two-day trading halt this morning, approximately 30 minutes after market opening, pending a major corporate announcement. Trading is expected to resume by 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
The suspension took effect at 9:31 a.m. Prior to the halt, BHIC shares were trading at 31.5 sen, up 0.5 sen or 1.6%, with a volume of 266,500 shares and a market capitalisation of approximately RM178 million.
Meanwhile, the broader Malaysian market showed a strong performance. The FBM KLCI opened at 1,744.74 points, jumping 11.91 points from last Friday’s close of 1,732.83. Although the index briefly dipped to 1,736.32 in early trade, buying momentum returned and pushed the benchmark higher, ending the session at 1,751.30 points, up 18.47 points or 1.07%.
Total market turnover reached 3.12 billion shares valued at RM2.92 billion. Advancers outnumbered decliners, with 803 stocks rising, 350 falling, and 515 closing unchanged.
ZETRIX AI Steals the Spotlight
Across sectoral indices, 11 sectors closed in positive territory, with six sectors recording gains of more than 1%. The technology index led the market, surging 3.7%, while the construction and communications & media indices edged lower by 0.5% and 0.2% respectively.
Among individual stocks, ZETRIX AI Berhad (ZETRIX, 0138, Main Market – Technology) emerged as the most actively traded counter. The stock soared 12 sen or 17.5% to close at 80.5 sen, fully recovering losses from the previous two trading sessions. Trading volume stood at an impressive 215.87 million shares.
