(Kuala Lumpur, Feb 10) — Public Bank (PBBANK, 1295, Main Market Financial Services) briefly crossed the RM100 billion market-cap milestone intraday today, becoming the second bank on Bursa Malaysia to momentarily break the trillion-sen (RM100b) threshold.

At 4:02 p.m., the stock rose to RM5.16, officially pushing its market value above RM100 billion. It later hit an intraday high of RM5.18, lifting its market cap to around RM100.5 billion.

The “RM100 billion” status, however, lasted only about 40 minutes. Profit-taking into the close pared gains, and the share ended the day at RM5.11, up 3 sen or 0.6%, with market cap easing back to about RM99.189 billion.

In terms of recent price action, Public Bank first broke above RM5.00 on Jan 27 before trading largely within the RM4.80–RM5.00 range. Buying momentum strengthened yesterday (Feb 9), helping the stock hold above RM5.00 and briefly challenge the RM100 billion level today.

Based on Public Bank’s 19.41069 billion issued shares, a share price of RM5.16 implies a market capitalization of roughly RM100 billion.

Currently, Maybank (MAYBANK, 1155) remains the only Bursa-listed bank consistently above RM100 billion, with market cap around RM144.973 billion. CIMB (CIMB, 1023) trails behind with market value of about RM92.295 billion.
