Sammi Cheng calls Dayo Wong a “treasure” she wants to explore further; Ng Wai-lun hopes Night King will outgross A Guilty Conscience

(Kuala Lumpur, 11th) Lunar New Year film The King of the Night, produced by the team behind A Guilty Conscience and starring Dayo Wong and Sammi Cheng, will premiere in Malaysia on February 16 (Chinese New Year’s Eve). Director Jack Ng arrived in Malaysia with Sammi Cheng, Fish Liew, and Joey Wong for promotional events, including a fan session at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

When asked about box office expectations, Ng said he hopes to surpass A Guilty Conscience as a personal milestone, joking that it’s beyond his control. Sammi Cheng shared that she feels little pressure and described working with Wong as discovering a “new treasure,” leaving room for future collaborations.

Cheng plays nightclub CEO “Sister V” in the film, humorously noting she initially expected to play a hostess but was “promoted” instead. She even added a beauty mark to enhance the character’s look. Regarding strong language in the film, she said actors simply serve their roles without hesitation.

The Malaysian release will be shown uncut, identical to the Hong Kong version. Meanwhile, Fish Liew was recently nominated for Best Actress at the 44th Hong Kong Film Awards for Blossoms of Love Like Mine (literal translation), sharing that her first nomination already feels like a win.
