(Kuala Lumpur, Feb 12) Sammi Cheng reunites with Dayo Wong in the Lunar New Year film Night King, marking their first collaboration since 2014. Cheng plays nightclub CEO “V,” while Wong portrays her ex-lover “Brother Foon,” with a love-hate dynamic at the core of the story.

Cheng highlighted a rooftop confession scene as the most memorable, centered on the line “only sharing hardship, not prosperity.” She said she personally disagrees, believing true love can overcome such limitations.

Her character shows both strength and vulnerability—especially when facing the relationship between Foon and his subordinate Mimi, played by Fish Liew. Cheng noted that jealousy and lingering affection define V’s emotional struggle.

Directed by Philip Yung, the film was cut down from nearly four hours to just over two. Yung hinted that a longer version may be released if box office results are strong.

Liew described filming intimate scenes with Wong as both surreal and thrilling, while Wong Kit Yee said joining the cast felt like a dream come true.
