“Kou Lik Ho Hei” Emerges as Major Nominee at the 21st BOH Cameronian Arts Awards

(Kuala Lumpur, 13th) Branded as Malaysia’s largest Chinese musical production of 2025, Kou Lik Ho Hei has secured five nominations at the 21st BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, positioning itself as one of the standout productions of the year.

Competing in the Musical Theatre category, the production earned nominations for:

  • Best Lead Performer
  • Best Supporting Performer
  • Best Music & Sound Design
  • Best Set / Visual Design
  • Best Lighting Design

Producer and performer KK Wong expressed confidence despite facing strong competitors from Malay and English theatre circles, describing the nomination as a significant milestone.

The awards ceremony will take place on 3 May 2026 at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), a venue closely associated with the production’s earlier success.

This year’s awards carry the theme “COLLABeyond: Co-Creating the Future,” highlighting cross-disciplinary collaboration, innovation in arts education, and technological integration within Malaysia’s performing arts landscape.

The nomination announcement was held at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus Experimental Theatre, gathering arts practitioners, academics, and industry partners.

Organized in collaboration with BOH Plantations and Kakiseni, the awards received 81 submissions across 39 categories, with 44 productions shortlisted.

Panel discussions emphasized sustainability, cross-sector collaboration, and the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of artistic practice.
