(Kuala Lumpur, 13th) The Malaysian ringgit strengthened significantly against both the US dollar and the Singapore dollar following the release of encouraging economic data.

As of 1:40 p.m., the ringgit appreciated 0.26% against the US dollar to 3.8960, breaking the 3.90 psychological level and reaching its highest level since April 23, 2018.

Against the Singapore dollar, the ringgit also rose 0.26% to 3.08270, marking its strongest level since March 16, 2022.

Bank Negara Malaysia reported that Malaysia’s economy expanded by 6.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025, bringing full-year growth to 5.2%, exceeding the earlier forecast range of 4% to 4.8%.

Governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour stated that strong domestic demand and favorable export performance were the key drivers of growth.

Stronger-than-expected economic data typically boosts investor confidence, encourages capital inflows, and supports currency appreciation.
