(Putrajaya, Feb 13) Malaysia’s MADANI Government spokesperson and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Cabinet was informed that Malaysia’s economy expanded by 6.3% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, exceeding earlier estimates.
He added that with the stronger fourth-quarter performance, full-year 2025 GDP growth was revised upward from the initial 4.9% to 5.2%, slightly higher than 2024’s 5.1%.
Fahmi noted that the construction sector was among the key contributors, recording growth of 11%. He also highlighted several positive macro indicators, including the stock market index reaching a seven-year high, a firm ringgit, inflation at a low 1.4%, and a fiscal deficit of 3.7%, better than the 3.8% target.
Earlier, the Department of Statistics Malaysia reported that fourth-quarter GDP rose 6.3%, marking the strongest growth in three years.
Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said the expansion was driven by strong domestic demand and stable exports, and growth momentum is expected to continue this year.
